OFF Festival

I'm breaking the summer silence (caused by travelling and excessive amount of work to do) with great news- Generate Nothing got accreditation for OFF Festival!

Anyone unfamiliar with this great event taking place in Katowice (Poland, the capital city of Upper Silesia) should immediately check out their website. It was chosen by Pitchfork as one of 20 most important summer festivals in the world and the last year edition received the European Festival Award in Best Medium Festival category. The whole festival area is situated in Three Ponds Valley. There are three ponds quite close to it (obviously) with their own marina. Moreover, there is a forest and airport used by Silesian Aeroclub nearby (during the concerts sometimes you can see people training aerobatics- believe me, it's amazing). To have a glimpse of what OFF festival looks like I encourage you to watch the documentary from the last year edition (unfortunately polish speaker are not subtitled, but it's nice to watch anyway):

Although I was not pleasantly surprised about Purity Ring cancellation this year, the line-up is quite impressive, with Kurt Vile, Savages, Chromatics, Atari Teenage Riot, Shabazz Palaces, the Antlers, Ty Segall, Swans, Connan Mockasin, Battles... and so much more! From polish projects i recommend checking out Jacaszek, Piętnastka and Nerwowe Wakacje. I also love the idea of being able to see Kim Gordon and Thurston Moore at the same festival. Anyway, you can check out the full line-up here.

So I'm packing myself up, installing the festival app on my phone and planning the journey to arrive on the field this thursday.

Same as last year OFF offers merch with very cool designs from polish artists. Apart from t-shirts and tote bags, this year we can also buy notepads from limited edition. From other interesting things, i recently found out about the event happening on the experimental stage during the festival: on 4.07, the third day, there will be an event with people simultaneously playing songs from Slowdive's 'Souvlaki' on their cellphones to celebrate album's anniversary. Loving this band, i'm certainly going to be there.

So if you want to get some real-time updated follow me on twitter (@GenerateNothing). Also expect some write-up of my experiences at OFF after I come back!

P.S. Sorry for not adding any music and replying your e-mails! The blog will come back to normal around september.
